Your money, unseen.
A private wallet for the XRP Ledger. One recovery phrase holds all your accounts, here, in the extension or on your phone.
Your recovery phrase
These 12 words are your wallet. Anyone who has them can spend everything in it, and Opaque can't bring them back if they are lost. Write them down in order and keep them offline.
Confirm your phrase
Type these three words from your phrase, to be sure it is written down.
Import a wallet
The 12-word recovery phrase of an Opaque wallet, or one account's key (opq1…), from the extension, the website or your phone. Your notes are found again on the ledger.
Keep it if this browser is cleared
Back this wallet up with a passkey: Touch ID, Face ID, your phone or your password manager. Clear the browser, or open Opaque somewhere new, and the same passkey brings every account back. Opaque keeps only an encrypted copy that it can't open.

Loading notes…
Your coins sit in a pool among notes of the same size. A payment proves it owns one of 8 of them without saying which, and the pool pays from its own account.
The pool's keys sign once each, and every payout swaps in keys nobody has seen yet. That protects against a future quantum computer by timing: an attacker gets a few seconds per key. It is not a mathematical guarantee.

Deposit
Send to your address from any XRPL wallet or exchange. The sender sees the pool and a tag, never your notes, and what arrives becomes notes only you can spend.
Your XRP address
Making your address…—Yours to reuse, like any wallet address. It holds no key, so there is nothing in it for a quantum computer to break, and only this wallet can add notes to it. Payments into it can be linked to each other; what you spend can't. An explorer shows this address as the pool, with everyone's deposits in its balance: only Opaque knows which notes are yours.
The browser account has no recovery phrase, so it can't keep a reusable address. Use a one-time address below, or set up a recovery phrase in Accounts.
One-time address
A fresh tag for one deposit, unlinkable to your others.
The tag is required: the pool refuses payments without one. Any amount works; what doesn't fill a whole note waits on the tag for the next payment.
Testnet
XRPL's testnet faucet pays this tag. The request goes through the relays like everything else; the ledger shows a fresh faucet account paying the pool.
Buy with card or bank
Opens MoonPay in a new tab. MoonPay knows who bought, how much, when, and this tag; the ledger shows MoonPay paying the pool.

Apps
Each XRPL app you connect gets an account of its own, funded by a pool: it sees an address that leads nowhere. Close one to turn what is left, reserve included, back into notes.
